Frank Lloyd Wright

If you know anything about Bflo, NY, you know that it used to be one of the wealthiest cities in the country, during the late 1800's. We have some lovely architecture here, buildings by three very famous architects--Frank Lloyd Wright, HH Richardson, Louis H. Sullivan (Guaranty Building) as well as many others.

(David told me that I.M. Pei designed the Ellicott Complex at UB--apparently not one of his better designs---if you've ever been in that building you know what I am talking about!)

Frederick Law Olmsted (who designed Central Park in NYC) designed the system of parks and wide parkways and traffic circles (which are now all restored---I live in the neighborhood of 6 of them---in fact, the photos I took and posted here the other night are from one of them) in Buffalo.

Anyway, my point is that the NYTimes has an article today about plans for three NEW Wright buildings. Well, I suppose it might be cool, but I am not sure how I feel about NEW buildings, unless they are direct from his plans. These would be built from sketches only. However, ANYthing that brings more beauty and people to Buffalo, is a worthwhile endeavor. We already have a number of Wright buildings here, and we're not too far from Fallingwater, so maybe it would draw more people here (apparently Fallingwater gets 100,000 people a year).

Anyhoo---I did take some more photos yesterday, but since Hello is not working at the moment, I'll have to wait to post them.

Peace.
